About my Rag Rugs
I own a Health Store in Johnson City Texas about 40 miles west of Austin. But in my spare time I make crochet carpets.
Rag Rugs ARE made from rags. In fact duringthe Depression, people used what ever they had at their disposal to make rugs, such as; old clothes, old gunney sacks, socks, table clothes.
My great grandma taught me how to make rag rugs at the kitchen table when I was less than 10 years old. She would keep bags of old cloth scraps to braid and later sew together. She also used these for blankets. She even made carpets out of panty hose for the mud rooms.
Today I raid garage sales, thrift stores, and friends for old sheets, curtains, and table clothes. I really enjoy making these carpets.
